This website is busy and growing, as I frequently add new items. Many of the articles here are not beginner level: they assume a basic knowledge of ancient and modern Heathen lore, terms and references. (I do provide a Heathen Word-Hoard or glossary on this website, though it is not completely exhaustive.) If you are interested in the subjects of these articles but feel you’re missing some background to understand them, please search around for some of the excellent introductory books and websites about modern and ancient Heathenry.
Don’t feel frustrated if you find some contradictions between what I write and what you read in other books / websites, and contradictions among the other books and sites, too. Heathenism is not a dogmatic or doctrinal religion: it isn’t now, and it never was, though there are some general customs that are characteristic of Heathenism as a whole.
Heathenry is a living, breathing, growing organism: vigorous, feisty, and at times somewhat chaotic. Different Heathen groups and individuals have their own ways of doing and seeing things; there’s a lot of variation, and many of us consider this to be one of Heathenism’s strengths, in spite of the challenges that arise. It’s up to each of us to explore and decide for ourselves which approaches are most meaningful to us, and fit best with our own personal values and spiritual goals. I wish you good luck on the hunt!
